I'm a Photographer based in St Petersburg, Florida though I am happy to travel for assignments.

I shoot regular weekly freelance for "Creative Loafing," - an alt weekly distributed throughout Tampa Bay and beyond. I have photographed eleven covers for CL since 2007. Seven of those have been in the last year.

Shooting for Creative Loafing has forced me to become what's known as a "generalist" due to the variety of subjects I am assigned to photograph, hence the numerous sections of my portfolio. Over the years though, my specialty has become upscale photography for people and businesses, specifically food, advertising, and unique portrait experiences.

In addition, having spent ten years on & off the road traveling nationwide as an Experiential Marketing Field/Tour Manager (my on-again off-again career in tandem with photography), allowed me to hone my abilities both as a travel photographer and an event photographer.
I now photograph numerous events throughout Tampa Bay particularly those with art related themes. The Salvador Dali museum and the Tampa Museum of Art are two of my favorite clients.

Last but certainly not least, I run what's known as the "Sasha Rae Photo Booth" - a fun new addition to my event photography which you may have seen at some local events. Please check out the 'photobooth' area on my homepage for all the brightly colored, fun examples and consider renting the Sasha Rae Photo Booth for your party or event today.

Thanks so much for visiting - I look forward to taking your photo!

Cheers,

Shanna Gillette

[About the name:
The name Sasha Rae is a stage name (I'm a Singer as well) given to me many years ago due to mispronunciations of my name, Shanna (pronounced like 'banana' not 'fauna'). Eventually the name stuck as a creative moniker used also for my photography. These days in my professional work, I do tend to go more by Shanna but I have kept Sasha Rae as a fun way to separate my personal work from my photobooth. I will happily answer to either one.]

REVIEWS:

I hired Shanna after seeing her pictures on line and loving her playful use of color and light - I wanted her to capture my wedding with just that sense of whimsy and excitement. What I got was so much more. Shanna was FANTASTIC to work with. She is an engaging and passionate artist who (clearly) loves her work...her energy for the process was contagious. More than that she is kind, calm, and creative- she made what could have been a hectic or stressful day into an easy-going and enjoyable one. The final products she produced blew me away. I will treasure my wedding photos forever and would whole-heartedly reccommend working with Shanna!

After years of mediocre family photos we finally had Sasharaephoto come to our home for a professional family portrait session. We wanted a group shot, parents only, and children only shots. We knew we were asking a lot. While the family members were a little hesitant at first Shanna was able to put us all at ease and make it a fun event for the family. Shanna and her assistant did all the set-up with the least amount of disruption to our home. After the shoot everything that had been moved was back it its proper place.

We had a fun family time and now have several beautiful family portraits. I recommend Sasharaephoto for your portrait needs.

Shanna is a pleasure to work with, always has good ideas and has taken excellent photos for Creative Loafing in Tampa. I had said in a past endorsement, "I would use her again tomorrow if she hadn't moved out of town." Well, she's back and taking more pics than ever for CL. We couldn't be happier with the work.

Shanna was always my first choice when it came to photogs. Whether taking pictures from a distance or mixing it up with rowdy crowds in order to get right to the lip of the stage, Shanna came through with amazing shots every time. Her portraits were killer, too. She knew how to put musicians at ease and capture them at their relaxed best in an artful manner. Shanna always arrived at a shoot/show prepared and on time and always turned in her work before deadline. To this day, when I'm in need of a photog, her name is the first that comes up. Her work is always outstanding.

Shanna is a talented photographer whose images were the backbone of Orange Magazine. Her dependability and creativity were a great asset to the publication, and it was always a pleasure working with her.

Tampa is a small town for those in the photo industry. Over the course of a couple years, I worked with Shanna on photo shoots, separately but on the same publication, as well as working the same events for different clients. In all of these instances, I noticed her to be reliable, energetic, creative, and resourceful. One project we had a tough shooting schedule. Nonetheless she regularly made herself available and never complained even though it would have been in her right to do so. I'm always looking to work with people who make working life easier on a given project, to help towards the best results, and I would work with her again anytime.
